Born in Sào Paulo, Brazil in 1961, Bia began her career in advertising at the Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing University. She furthered her photographic skills at the prestigious Nikon Photography School in Michigan in 1980.
Upon her return, Bia began work in various capacities on a wide range of commercial projects for Brazil’s leading production companies including Cinestudio, Chroma Films, Jodaf Films and Filmmakers and Co. From 1989 until 1993, Bia was considered among her peers to be Brazil’s top assistant director.
In 1998, Bia launched Movi & Art and has directed many award-winning commercials. Outstanding among them are: “It’s all the Same” for Banco Nacional/Fisher & Justus, and “Black Cat” for Itau Insurance/DM9-Needham, both of which made the Short List at the Cannes Festival 1998; “Photographer” for Fuji Film/ADD, award winner at the prestigious London Festival, “Hands” for IDEAC/DM9-Needham, award winner at the NY Festival 1998; and “Hugs” for S.A.E./Grottera winner of the FIAP in Argentina.
Among her most recent international work is the multi-language, international spot “Wedding” for Kodak/JWT, where she had the opportunity to direct talent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. Bia imparts her personal imprint on each one of her projects. She is very “hands on” and fully involved in her endeavors as she successfully combines innovative cinematography and camera movement with a strong imagination and comedic timing seeking higher levels of excellence and achievement.
